President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have been inspiration. It’s not just because this was the first time people of color were the faces of America, a country that has had a long history of enslavement, slave codes, Jim Crow laws, segregation, discrimination, and other systems of oppression and inequality.
Of course, this significance made many feel proud and hopeful about the continued evolution of America. But, the appeal went beyond that.
The entire Barack Obama and Joe Biden Administration and their families represented America with class and dignity. Intelligence, compassion, no scandals. This administration reached out to people and galvanized those willing to listen. Even motivated the youth in this country.
This administration was tested and still got things done despite the hell-bent partisanship from the opposition. And there’s more that could’ve been done. This administration was about progress and growth for the long haul and for everyone in this country no matter what you look like, how you pray, how much you have, where you live, or who you love.
And despite the issues that arose during this administration’s eight years, I felt we were safe as a country. With this leadership, we were raising the bar in various ways. It’s sad that this is ending.
History will appreciate Obama-Biden Administration even though some people who lived it didn’t take the time to see it for what it was.
