In Haiti, kompa is the most popular style of music. While zouk, a genre from the other French Caribbean islands and similar to kompa, is also enjoyed and often blended into kompa music.
At Haitian gatherings you will hear LOTS of music especially by iconic kompa artists i.e. Orchestre Tropicana D’Haiti, Skah Shah, Coupé Cloué, Tabou Combo, Michel Martelly (Sweet Micky), and Alan Cavé as well as current groups i.e. T-Vice, Carimi, Nu-Look, Kreyol La, Harmonik, and Klass.
