Growing up, hip-hop was one of the many music genres that I enjoyed. Most 80s-90s rappers were skilled lyricists who showcased individuality. Songs were for entertainment, shock, or absurdity while others had important or positive messages. My interest in the music these days has soured because of the lack of uniqueness and substance. I found the following article interesting and it describes the sentiment of hip-hop fans who are disappointed with the current state of the music and hope that hip-hop regains its lost integrity:
